Beginner Training - Week 5

I hope you are doing well! This week we’ll take it a little easier. And you can use it to catch up a bit from last week if you have to. Start by watching the videos first, so you know what to expect to accomplish this week. All your lessons are explained in great detail in the Resource File for this week. I highly recommend you print out the Resource File and keep it handy as you perform the commands this week.

Lesson 11:

Fading The Lure

Fading The Lure
Up to this point you have used a lot of treats to get your dog to perform the commands. You may have already done this, but it’s time to slowly start weaning your dog off some treats.

Lesson 12:

Teach Your Dog To Stay

Another important command is “Stay”.
First we need to teach them what “Stay” means and what to do with it.

Lesson 13:

Teach Your Dog To Move It

Teach Your Dog To Move It
As much as they want to be with us, very often our sweet four-legged furry friends are just in our way. Whether we want to sit on the couch and not on top of them, we walk around with a hot plate, want to move a chair or open a door, they need to move out of the way.

Keep practicing these commands all week.
When you feel that your dog is ready you can move on to Week 6!
